On Day 5 at Karanga Camp we woke up to a beautifully clear morning - would love to have had more mornings like this!

Kili - day 4 - Barranco Cliff to Karanga Camp

The day started brightly but as we climbed the cliff (a steel scramble) the rain started...I had to put my good camera away  and used my second camera - you can see some of the pictures in the "Taster" - not one of the best days for walking.

Kilimanjaro - Day 1 - Machame Gate to Machame Camp

 The starting point - Machame Gate - already 1,800m

 Some things to bear in mind...

 The timings of what we were going to do

 The porters get their loads and set off.

 At first we walked through rain forest

 This started to thin out as we climbed higher

 There were some nice flowers on the way

 We got to the camp site in about 4 hours of relatively easy walking - already 3,000m

We go the first view of the mountain in the evening...
